Some schools require letter of recommendation from your counselor. Examples of schools that require a letter a recommendation: Dillard, Xavier, Tulane, any school that uses the Common App, Ivy League Universities etc. PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES DO NOT REQUIRE A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION.

Some guidelines/tips for Teacher Recommendations:
- Give your teachers at least three weeks!
- Pick teachers that you have a strong working relationship with.
- Pick teachers that can comment on your academic and personal growth in that class
- It does not have to be a teacher who taught you in a course where you earned a high grade, but it should be a teacher who taught you in a course you put forth your best effort in.
- Give the teacher a written request that summarizes what you learned/how you did in the class and what you've accomplished in high school. A resume is a great thing to add if you have it!
